Inspired by the classic Aesop Fable, Tortoise and the Hares is a play on that story. It's a sequel, a rematch. 

The Tortoise now has grown so much that he towers over his opponents. The Hare has kids of his own and race by his side. The Hares thought they would easily beat the tortoise this time around with their wheels. The Tortoise is clearly the winner as he sports his gold medal towering over his opponents.  

Tortoise and the Hares were part of the Soft* A plush art show at myplasticheart in NYC. Tortoise is made of needle felted wool. His shell is flecked with colors. He is approximately 9 x 8 inches. The Hares (Rabbit Racers) are all needle felted wool with wooden wheels.  The large hare is approx. 3 x 2 inches and the two small hares are 2.5 x 1.25 inches.

These pieces are needle felted wool sculptures. Made entirely by hand, these sculptures were made without a pattern and are unique, one of a kind pieces. Each piece takes many hours to create. Though soft and stuffed animal like, they are art. They are not meant for rough play or for small children but is a perfect collectible for an older child or discerning adult.
